Product data and BIM objects
The event at the LNEC addressed the standardised information used to identify and describe construction products in BIM models.
We attended the seminar “Objetos e openBIM em 2026: onde estamos?” on 5 May 2026, at the Laboratório Nacional de Engenharia Civil in Lisbon, co-organised by buildingSMART Portugal, the CT 197 technical committee and the LNEC.
Object libraries
Standard EN ISO 22014, now translated into Portuguese and awaiting approval, sets out the mandatory identifiers that link the digital object to the physical product. The information used to populate those objects comes from the product data templates available on the PDTs.pt platform, developed by the University of Minho as open access.
